Virat Kohli Test Match: Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers has said that he is hoping to see the best performance from Virat Kohli on India’s upcoming tour of South Africa. India will play three T20, three-match and two Test matches against South Africa on a month-long tour.

This is going to be seen in the India-South Africa series also. If Virat Kohli performs as per his status against South Africa, it would not be surprising if he leaves behind at least 5 batsmen in terms of scoring the most Test runs. Especially Kohli can leave VVS Laxman and AB de Villiers behind in the first test match itself. India-South Africa Test series starts from 26th December.

The South Africa tour is an opportunity for Kohli to make his place among the top 20 batsmen scoring the most runs. If Virat Kohli scores 324 runs on the South African tour, he will complete his 9000 test runs.

If King Kohli does this feat, he can leave behind VVS Laxman, AB de Villiers, Inzamam Ul Haq, Javed Miandad and Graham Gooch in his journey. Inzamam ul Haq has 8830 runs in his name in 120 tests. Javed Miandad has 8832 runs in his name in 124 tests. Graham Gooch had scored 8900 runs in 118 test matches.

As far as scoring the most runs in Test cricket is concerned, this record is in the name of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin played 200 test matches in his career. He scored 15921 runs in 329 innings of these matches. Sachin also has the record of maximum 51 test centuries in his name.

The first T20 match will be played in Durban, followed by Gkebarha on 12 December and Johannesburg on 14 December. India has never defeated South Africa in a Test series away from home.
